About Charles

Charles is a well-known pioneer for a sustainable future for all, a green entrepreneur and climate leader; with three decades’ commercial experience building purpose-driven businesses and embedding sustainability into the DNA of many large multinationals.

Initially a marketing professional who focused on launching environmental products and services, he completed his MBA, and joined BP to launch beyond petroleum before being fast tracked to head up BP’s renewables business.

Upon leaving BP, he joined GreenOrder, a US sustainability consulting firm with clients including GE and GM, and, after acquisition by LRN, returned to the UK and co-founded SecondNature, one of the UK’s leading sustainability consultancies with clients including Tesco, Barclays, ENGÍÉ, Ovo and Network Rail. He sold SecondNature to Anthesis Group, where he served as Group Director leading the strategy practice during his earn-out and exit.

He went on to co-found GRIDSERVE Sustainable Energy, a UK market leader in battery storage and EV charging infrastructure.

He played a key role on the UN COP26 Climate Champions team, where he successfully led the global Aviation sector to sign up to the Paris Agreement and commit to Net Zero by 2050.

He is an Ambassador for the Climate and Nature Bill and an Al Gore Climate Reality Leader, having co-founded Climate Reality UK. Charles has a BA from Brown University and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
